Sailing near the Shot Tower in Taroona

The Harbour Sailing activities take place within the sheltered waters of the harbour (located on the River Derwent) and the D’entrecasteaux Channel.  The harbour is huge, 5.5km wide in places, and the D'entrecasteaux Channel is even bigger with 360 km of sheltered coastline.  The sailing here is smooth, safe and spectacular, ideal for those wanting to experience sailing for the first time, and for veterans alike (we don't muck about - the spinnaker comes out whenever the wind allows).  These activities are suitable for all ages (infants sail free).

"The voyage up the Derwent Firth displays a grand succession of fairy visions, in its entire length elsewhere unequalled.  In gliding over the deep blue sea studded with lovely isles luxuriant to the water’s edge, one is at a loss which scene to choose for contemplation and to admire most. When the Huon and Bruni have been passed, there seems no possible chance of a rival; but suddenly mount Wellington, massive and noble like his brother Etna, literally heaves in sight, sternly guarded on either hand by Mounts Nelson and Rumney; presently we arrive at Sullivan’s Cove – Hobart!"
